Turn the volume up.
Louder.
Right up.
To eleven if you can.
Because as the name suggest, The Noisettes don't really do quiet. A more aptly named band will you struggle to find. The Noisettes holler. They pound. They crash. They thrash. They most certainly do not tread carefully, whisper or politely offer you more tea vicar.
'Scratch Your Name' starts off like some kind of '70's rock behemoth. In a completely good way. It's all pounding drums and hard rocking bass lines. There's a riff that could shake the rings of Saturn square. A voice that calls to mind a lifetime licking ashtrays. You'll feel sweat streaked hair whipping your face. And yes, that probably is someone treading on your foot as they charge past head first into the mosh.
'IWE' tries to slow things down. Coming on all moody and scowling in the corner, it can't but help howl as a squealing guitar cuts across everything else before the chorus erupts in a blast of fury. And not to be outdone by any guitar, singer Shingai Shoniwa shrieks like a banshee with glass in her foot.
Wind Blows Hot' meanwhile takes on a music hall feel. A seedy debauched music hall that is. Like chorus girls in hell kicking their legs out to tease the miserable wretches doomed to spend their existance caught in eternal damnation. A pergatory burlesque number if you will. Theatrical. A vaudevillian nightmare that descends into a hellish crashing of drums.
I look forward to hearing a full album but until then, you can find out more here and here.
