Somethings will stand, somethings will fall

I'm back.

In body, if not 100% in spirit.

The last week has been manic, intense, fun, scary, active, tiring and full of booze. It's been 4 days since I've seen my own bed having been up and down the country, sat in conferences, stuck on trains, drinking in pubs and dancing in clubs. I am officially knackered. Plus I've caught a cold and am suffering from a rather nasty sore throat at the moment. Oh joy!

Anyway, as my iPod has been my saviour over the last few days, I thought I'd leave the music in tonight's post to the fate of the shuffle button. You know the score. First three songs it picks are the songs for tonights post.

SFX - dramatic snare drum roll

First up, we have the Bellmer Dolls, with a track that sounds heavily indebted to The Birthday Party in all their dark and intimidating glory. It's vampiric in it's gothic attack, coming on like it may slash you with a switchblade at any moment, then suck the blood from the wound.

Second on the shuffle are Girls Against Boys with a noisy rocking bass driven attack. It feels like every instrument on the song is fighting for dominance. Not one willing to hold back. Voice against guitar against bass against drums. And while it could be detrimental, it isn't. They spur each other on rather than detract and the result is worth turning up loud for.

And we finish with the White Birch. This song is liking gazing into a misty river. It's reflective. Time passes without noticing. It moves without seeming too. You could fall in at any moment. Get washed away in it's beautiful, gently calming, soothing motion.

Bellmer Dolls - blood n sand

Girls Against Boys - super-fire from 'House Of GVSB'

The White Birch - your spain from 'Come Up For Air'

Ohhh it is good to have you back, but I am not happy to hear you have caught a cold...Take some Echinecea and Zinc and your cold will be cut in half. I can send you some if they don't have it anywhere near you.

I have White Birch in my pod as well but Girls Against Boys and Bellmer Dolls are new introductions for me. Thanks for that.

Cheers to life!

Just remember your bed gets lonely too!

As your attorney I advise you to drink heavily.

Alcohol is a disinfectant, so if there's germs in your blood, alcohol should zap em out.

If that doesn't work, try a heavier disinfectant, like peroxide.

No, actually, don't do that. I'm kidding.

Can you get Cold F/X over there? Canadian hockey players swear by it, and we all know how smart hockey players are about medicine.

Hey there Mr Midlands ... long time no hear from. The podcast misses you but I'm guessing that access to microphones and time is limited in the frenetic world of new work? If by co-incidence you are in London on the 17th of November we have the last Cut gig this year and you would be most welcome. I warn you though .. we are shit compared to Radiohead. Take care of yourself and I recommend fisherman's friends .. I'm one myself. Tim

All cold remedies gratefully accepted even if i have no idea what you're talking about. The cold's lingering but i feel much better so yay me!

Rachel - glad you like the music. definately check out more GVSB.

Mentok - don't take this the wrong way, but you're kinda scary sometimes!!

And Tim - sadly new job means no mic availability but I am aiming to buy one for home so I will return to CP shortly. I'll see if i can make the london gig. Shame its not next week as i think i'm meant to be in londinium on tuesday.

Fear is nature's way of telling you you're having fun ;-)

Seriously, a million pardons if I have offended or alarmed. Just goofin', ya know.
