You know when you get an idea in your head and you just can't shake it?
That's what's happened with 'Saturday Superhouse'.
Every time I hear it, I think, "ooh Foo Fighters". Every time. Even though I'm now well aware that it isn't them. My brain just can't seem to work it out. The reason being, that it sounds just like the Foo Fighters. Or at least it does to my ears. It's got that power punk pop thing nailed down to a tee. But it's not Dave Grohl and the boys, it's Biffy Clyro. And really they're nothing like Foo Fighters. For one thing, they're Scottish. None of them were in Nirvana. There's only three of them and well, frankly, they're just not the Foo Fighters. Now if my brain could remember that for the next time I hear the song, it would be most appreciated.
What will probably help is this. A live acoustic version which frankly sounds as much like the Foo's as I do. In other words, not very. It's less frantic, less intense and the accent comes through a lot stronger. And seeing as I'm posting one Biffy song, I might as well post a couple more. 'My Recovery Injection' is a great little track with some lovely harmonies and little guitar flourishes. While 'Drop It Dickhead' is a lovely folky demo washed through with a traditional Scotch feel.
