Am I a sucker?
Sometimes I think I might be.
I am what you might call, an easy sell. I am, it is fair to say, a complete sucker for interesting music and band merchandise. And over my years of gig going, I've amassed a fair amount. Hidden amongst the numerous band t-shirts that make up most of my wardrobe, I've got far too many badges, a set of Belle And Sebastian playing cards, cardboard Radiohead pint cups, a Nick Cave dish cloth printed with the lyrics to 'Lyre Of Orpheus', a shelf strewn with countless band mugs, a Supergrass lunchbox and many, many more items that I probably could have lived without was I not stricken with the dreaded impulse buying gene.
But sometimes, band merchandise can do more than just make you wonder, "why did I buy that?". For if you head over to the Yellow Bird Project you can buy t-shirts specially designed by some of your favourite artists including Rilo Kiley, Devendra Banhart and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. The money you pay then goes to that artists chosen charity. It's a scheme wherein everybody wins. You get a brand spanking t-shirt that looks ace and someone else gets a much needed donation. So go there, check out the shirts and put some of your hard earned cash to good use.
Rilo Kiley - bulletproof from 'Take Offs & Landings'
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - satan said dance from 'Some Loud Thunder'
Devendra Banhart - owl eyes from 'Nino Rojo'

Hiya
Came across your blog archive while searching for a downloadable version of the Mark & Lard Placebo Session, particularly Teenage Angst. Would you be able to tell me where I can get hold of it?

Ps I was at the Birmingham Clap Your Hands gig too! It was awesome!
I've also bought some daft things at gigs over the years, but you're the first I know who actually went for the Nick Cave tea-towel.
I've got two things that I didn't buy....a drumstick thrown into the crowd by the drummer in Basement Jaxx, and a stick of rock that Was thrown in by Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian. If only the latter had been autographed..
