Isn't it obvious?

I'm not a huge fan of Maximo Park.

Their first album kinda passed me by in a blur of disinterest.

But never one to hold a grudge, I'll admit 'Our Velocity' was an awesome, attention grabbing, adrenaline soaked single. Talk about announcing your return in style. And if ever there was a list of song you wouldn't think would translate to an acoustic stylee, well frankly, that would be staking it's claim firmly in the top 10. But that pretty much shows what i know because here it is. 'Our Velocity' in an acoustic stylee. And all things said, it's pretty good. Yes, it loses a lot of the studio version's energy and no, it doesn't exactly make you want to throw yourself around the room like a crazy loon. But it's still a damn good take on a damn fine tune.

And after you've enjoyed that, cast your ears over another couple of tracks from the same session. A newie and an oldie. 'Nosebleed' is a bittersweet little ditty that ditches any arty pretence in favour of a fairly conventional, lyrically Pulp-esque, indie tale of missed love. While 'I Want You To Stay' is full of stop-start guitars, bleepy keys and a fine vocal from Paul Smith.

Maximo Park - our velocity (live acoustic version) original version available on 'Our Earthly Pleasures'

Maximo Park - nosebleed (live acoustic version) original version available on 'Our Earthly Pleasures'

Maximo Park - I want you to stay (live acoustic version) original version available on 'A Certain Trigger'
