You know we're gonna be up late

My plan for world domination is finally coming to fruition.

Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!

Imagine my complete suprise and utter delight at opening The Guardian on Saturday and discovering that this little old blog of mine was one of six listed in The Guide section. I don't think I've stopped smiling all weekend. And I think this tiny slice of national press may have gone to my head. There's a chance it clouded my normally clear senses and caused me to make some ill advised decisions. One of which was to get up and do karaoke in a chinese restaurant in Bristol and rap my way through Shakira's 'Hips Don't Lie'. Though, there's also the chance that the vodka and beer I'd been drinking may have had something to do with it too. Anyway, embarrassing karaoke aside, with the press for this site and my friend's 30th birthday celebrations, this weekend has had something of a party feel to it. So I figure I should round it off with a couple of tracks from the ultimate party band.

LCD Soundsystem are one of the few bands guaranteed to pull me out of a mood. To lift my spirits. To make me wanna get up on the good foot and shake mah bootay! And frankly they're also one of the best live bands around at the moment. As these two tracks from their appearance on Later With Jools Holland surely attest. Somehow they turn what can be a stale studio atmosphere into a high energy party. There's an intensuty to their performances that just surpasses what they mange to lay down in the studion. The live environment is really the best place to experience them. James Murphy pushes his vocals. Gets carried away with moment and virtually screams the words out. Spits the lyrics with velocity while the band pump out their driving indie dance punk. Awesome stuff.

congrats, coxon. also got a mention, though rather pissed off to discover that they stuck the wrong link in, which means it goes to a completely blank site! Doh.
