We come from hell

Huzzah!

Hurrah!

And thank fuck for that.

Normal service has been resumed. All systems are go. Houston, we no longer have a problem. It seems weird having access to the internet at home again. Kind of disorientating. But I'm back and it's good to be here. So, what have I missed? Well there was the mass net hysteria over the most obviously not her celebrity sex tape that never was. Unsuprisingly, it turned out to be completely false. Then there was the will they-won't they news that Radiohead were releasing a next album over the internet themselves. Which unbelievably turned out to be completely true. Words cannot express how excited I am. New Radiohead!!!!! I cannot wait and have already pre-ordered my box set thingy. I may just spend the next few months drooling and awaiting it's arrival.

In the meantime, I thought I'd celebrate my return with an old feature that I used to do every once in a while. Yes, it's the return of b-sides that could have been a's. Kicking off with the flip side to Liars recent single 'Plaster Casts Of Everything'. Now you don't need me to tell you howutterly great Liars are because you already know this. You already know that for the second year running they have released an album that is vying for it's place as album of the year and that once again their sound has shifted track and managed to combine the primal, tribal element with, dare I say it, a more focused song based style. And you probably already know that the track you're about to listen to is great.

Next up we have iLiKETRAiNS, a band you may remember I featured a few posts back. well, this is my second attempt to get more of you into their brilliance. This track, a b-side to 'THE DECEPTiON' single, finds them in full on post rock mode. Blissed put guitars resonate throughout as they throw down the gauntlet to Explosions In The Sky to see who can create the prettiest instrumental track of the year.

Next up, are Future Of The Left. I don't know much about them except they're Welsh and on this track, they resemble Liars if they'd been around at the height of glam rock in the seventies. If glam rock actually ever had a high point that is.

Albert Hammond Jr meanwhile rattles through this Frank Black song and makes it sound like his own. Not having heard the original, I can't comment on how far it strays from it's original but it sounds neither Pixies-esque nor Strokes-lite in its performance. Truly Albert is becoming a artist in his own right.

Liars - volcano police

iLiKETRAiNS - joshua

Future Of the Left - march of the coupon saints

Albert Hammond Jr - old black dawning (live Frank Black cover)

Future on the Left is ex-members of McLusky. I'm excited about that one in particular!
