Well, it's been a long time coming.
But it's nice to finally be able to write about Amy Winehouse in the capacity of some positive music news.
So yeah, she won big at the Grammys. But what's better than that was her actual performance, which seemed to have some life and soul in it. While I'm sure she's still got a long way to go in cleaning up, she did look a lot healthier and alive than she has done in a long time. Obviously, a bit of spray on tan can go a long way but it was more than that. Anytime I've seen her live or on tv over the last year, she's resembled an empty shell. But the nervous fidgeting and far off look in her eye seem to have replaced by a focused desire to really embrace the songs. Some moves were busted, her voice sounded a lot fuller and she actually seemed to be enjoying it rather than concentrating on keeping her beehive stable. And obviously, it goes without saying that her band sounded as great as usual. It's just good to be able to say that for once, she was matching them. Let's hope she keeps it up.
