I'm away this weekend so there won't be much point coming here.
Not if you're looking for something new that is.
But seeing as you've been so kind to come here, I thought it best not to make it a wasted journey. So instead of my usual assemblage of ill thought out, easily defeated arguments, under developed opinions, illiterate ramblings, poor grammar, spelling mistakes and all the other things that collectively make up my spewed out thoughts, I thought I'd send you to some other places to check out some other things that are more than likely better than the drivel you find here.
First, I think you should check out John and Jehn, a French born, London based duo who make a kind of hyper cool, lo-fi, garage noise. Their music echoes with the ghost of a dog eared copy of 'The Velvet Underground & Nico'. In my mind, they wear sunglasses indoors, read books on philosophy, spend their days rifling around in charity shops and stay up till the early hours, chain smoking thin cigarettes while discussing the existential nature of the human condition. In reality, I'm sure they're actually much more rounded people than the one dimensional cliche I just painted. Either way, I'm currently becoming obsessed by their single, '20 L 07', which you can hear on their myspace page and no doubt read about on their very own blog.
Next, I think you should read Wild Mercury Sound, hosted by Uncut Magazine and written by music journalist John Mulvey. He gives an early heads up on the new releases that arrive at the magazine and writes engaging reviews which manage to avoid the pitfalls, hype and exaggeration that music journalism often falls into. In other words, he writes about music the way I wish I could.
Go here for all the cool gig posters you'll ever want to see.
If you haven't taken a look at Pitchfork TV, then go do it now cause it's choc full of high quality videos, interviews and live shows.
And finally, if that little lot isn't enough for you, then I suggest you click any one of the links to the right and go visit those fine blogs, every one of which is worthy of your time and readership.
