All reasonable thought is being drowned out

It's been a while since I've posted a mash up.

Mainly because it's been a while since I've heard one worth posting.

The craze seems to have died away. As most things do once every Tom, Dick and talentless hack jumps on the bandwagon. Which is pretty much what happened. The whole thing just got out of hand as more and more people used the same old tracks as backing and then bolted another equally overused track onto it. The creativity and originality that originally fuelled the best mash ups soon became diluted and lost amongst the flood of mediocre attempts. I mean, did we really need the number of 'Get Your Freak On' mash ups that popped up all over the place?

Anyway, I stumbled on this rather nice mash up of Bloc Party and Coldplay and thought I'd post it for you. The two tracks compliment in a most unexpected way. The tone and mood of the Bloc Party vocals lightening tremendously from it's original urgent paranoid self. Removed from the sharp jagged guitars that normally back him, Kele's vocals sound altogether sweeter and more serene.

In other news, last night I had the pleasure of seeing a comedian called Daniel Kitson and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever spent too hours laughing as much as I did last night. His current show is called 'The Impotent Fury Of The Priviliged and Daniel himself sums it up thus - "The world is a saddening mess, of unfathomable complexity and the simplest cruelty. and yet, rather than raging or weeping, most of us still manage to eat snacks, do crosswords and occaisonally wash. But what if, what if we heave our compassion from wherever its buried and with courage enough to seem naïve or underinformed or oblivious to futility, we reach for something better. Something more engaged, more humane and less snack based. An angry, frustrated and beautiul new show about wanting the world to change but not doing enough to change it". It's an intelligent, thoughful, insightful and dowright hilarious show from a comedian who mixes a love of language, the human condition and pure geelkiness. I can't recommend seeing him highly enough so go here and see if he's touring near you. And if he is, book a ticket now.
