The Glastonbury aftermath

I'm back.

And yes, I survived Glastonbury 2008.

But I'm absolutely knackered. It's now 2 days since we left the site and my whole body still aches. Every muscle, joint and fibre of my being is making me aware of it’s existence. I feel like an old man. Drained, completely exhausted and in need of more sleep than I’ve managed to catch up on. But yes, I survived four days in various fields watching loads of great music. I think it's safe to say that Glastonbury 2008 was a tremendous success. The sun shone. Mostly. The atmosphere was great. Completely. Even the toilets were bearable. Within reason. To those who chose to stay away because of the weather, you missed an absolute corker of a festival. To those who doubted Jay Z's suitability in headline Glastonbury, I hope you feel suitably foolish. He owned Saturday night and while it wasn’t all to my taste, his performance was faultless. But more of that sort of thing another day. I haven't as yet had a chance to even think about formulating, let alone writing my review but fear not, that’ll be coming over the next few days or so. There’ll also be more music from the weekend to give you a flavour of the festival. But for now, if you'll allow me to be a tad lazy, I'll ease myself back into this blogging lark with a short list of my Glastonbury highlights.

1. Leonard Cohen, specifically the moment he reclaimed 'Hallelujah'
2. The Gossip
3. Seasick Steve
4. Elbow
5. The Raconteurs

The Ting Tings - shup up and let me go (live at Glastonbury 2008)

MGMT - time to pretend (live at Glastonbury 2008)

Massive Attack - unfinished sympathy (live at Glastonbury 2008)

Black Kids - I wanna be your limousine (live at Glastonbury 2008)
