I don’t really have much to say today.
So it’s seems only apt I should post something instrumental.
And who better than Explosions In The Sky with their delicately chiming take on post rock. A band who are best experienced live. Who take the genre’s staple loud-quiet-loud dynamics and inject it with exquisite beauty. The only time I’ve seen them was a Sunday afternoon at All Tomorrows Parties a couple of years ago and the timing was perfect. Stood in a darkened room, nursing a monster hangover, theirs was simply one of the most mesmerising live shows I’ve ever experienced. I remember closing my eyes part way through, basking in the nerve tingling intensity beauty that surrounded and soothed my senses. Losing myself completely in this elegant, emotional racket. And while these two session tracks may not fully convey the power of seeing them live, they’re a good place to start.
